IRGF….A Rewarding Experience

“I am attending FIT to study biomedical sciences (their pre-med program). I want to become either a pediatrician or a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. I received a 4 year, full-tuition scholarship to attend based on academic merit.

I graduated last spring with an Associate’s Degree from IRSC summa cum laude and was Sebastian’s salutatorian with a 4.688 GPA along with Katelyn Wahl.
While at IRSC the past 2 years I have been on their honor roll (Dean’s and President’s lists) and I have been in the Top 10 at Sebastian. I was also recognized as a Distinguished scholar at IRSC and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. At Sebastian River High school, I started the Key Club through Kiwanis, so I have been working with them to do service projects throughout the community. Many of the gentlemen, such as Al Sammartino and Herb Hinkle, along with others wanted me to tell you that they said hi.
I was also crowned as Vero’s Miss Hibiscus 2018 last year, working to promote the STEM fields and get the younger girls in the community more interested and confident about their interests in these fields. I held a science symposium at the Vero IRSC campus in January to showcase all areas of science and have women speakers talk to young girls and hold experiments for them.

I walked onto the Florida tech women’s golf team in the fall and played in one tournament. It was a lot of dedication and hard work, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The game of golf has opened so many doors and is a great way to make new connections. IRGF gave me a start in a game that I will play and enjoy forever and I will always be grateful for that.

I started with IRGF when I was in 6th grade and continued to grow with the program through middle school. In high school, I began to give back to their SNAG Golf program, teaching elementary and preschool children the fundamentals of the game. It was such a rewarding experience to teach the kids what I had learned throughout my time with the program, such as responsibility and respect. IRGF is such a great program for all ages and I recommend anyone to join the program and learn about all that golf can offer.”
