Seven Point Plan of Sustainability

Encouraging Youth to Excel Through the Sport of Golf

Understand Our Beginning to See our Future

The Indian River Golf Foundation was created to promote interest and spread awareness of golfing opportunities throughout our community and to foster growth and self-improvement for youth on the Space Coast and Treasure Coast. We offer training, coaching, and competition for all skills levels and ages so that more people may enjoy this incredible sport. Our organization partners with public and private facilities, city and county governments, educational institutions, and private businesses to make the dream a reality—easy access to golf and training for all.

Our future is the development of the Indian River Golf Training Center. This center will serve as a tool to grow new golfers and community leaders. By acting as a safe space for children to gather and learn, they will develop the necessary skills and goals for their future, both in golf and in life.

What The Indian River Golf Foundation Stands For

  • We strive to build a foundation for youth to excel
  • Foster a foundation built on values for our future leaders
  • Encourage accountability and character in citizens
  • Provide children an opportunity to succeed and experience success
  • Develop the role in children as a Champion of Character
  • Help children learn and test leadership skills

A Safe Place for Children to Learn and Socialize

With the Indian River Golf Training Center, our children will be able to have a safe location where they can meet and interact with friends, community leaders, and learn golf skills all at one location. Our community is lacking such a space, and by creating one with our altruistic message in mind, we will be able to foster growth in children as well as encourage more involvement in golf as a sport. By developing the interest in golf early, we will be able to help foster the next generation of golfers and leaders in our community.

Creating a Home-Base for the Youth of our Community

Our Indian River Golf Training Center is planned to be constructed on the south end of the practice range at Sandridge Golf Club. The purpose of this center is to be a home-base for our youth as a place to meet, learn, practice, and engage in more social and interactive activities under qualified adult supervision. This facility will allow us to offer a place for the youth to gather during any season regardless of weather. We will be able to offer continuing education and life skill training programs in a classroom-type setting.

For golf activities, players, parent coaches, mentors, cadets, and volunteers will be able to have access to one of three hitting bays with Golf Tech Training equipment, as well as an open-air pavilion featuring synthetic putting, chipping, and tee mats for hitting balls out onto the practice range. This all represents a back-up to the spacious outdoor area featuring 10 golf skills stations accommodating up to 72 participants at any one time.

How We Attain our Goals

Encouraging and fostering growth in children is a year-round process that requires the help and assistance of many. We want children to experience positive reinforcement of good character traits as well as reach attainable goals during their highly impressionable early years. This is why the Indian River Golf Foundation features year-round programs, including training and participation in events for children from pre-kindergarten through high school.

While this is a challenging goal, our board of directors and team have come up with a Seven Point Plan of Sustainability. This plan is designed to carry our organization through many years of growth and change, but maintain our core beliefs of encouraging growth and care in children through golf.

Our Seven Point Plan of Sustainability

  1. Add new members to the Board of Directors with connections to the world of philanthropy.

As an organization that accepts contributions from individuals, business, and organizations, having members on the Board of Directors that are able to find and connect with those willing to make donations will allow us to grow and succeed in our goals.

  1. Create and implement a well-defined, systematic and annually repeating fundraising system, which at a minimum, will raise required operating funds.

We develop routine fundraising in order to obtain the funds necessary to continually teach youth necessary life and golf skills. Through fundraising alone, we will achieve all we need to continue operating without concern.

  1. Hire an Executive Director to provide IRGF administrative and golf operations skills.

An executive director will help grow Indian River Golf Foundation by managing the administrative and golf aspects of the foundation, as well as instruct new employees and partners on our message and operations.

  1. Establish an Endowment Fund to subsidize operating expenses.

By setting aside funds for the future in an endowment fund, we will be better prepared to continue operations as normal should our fundraising goals not achieve the funds necessary to cover operating expenses. These assets will grow over time and protect our organization even during hard times.

  1. Grow the Indian River Golf Alliance/Delegates Program through community leadership/support teams.

By growing the program, we will be able to better support our message and inspire children throughout our community. By obtaining delegates from community leaders and supportive teams, we will ensure continued growth.

  1. Launch a Capital Campaign for construction of the Indian River Golf Training Center

In order to construct our building for the Indian River Golf Training Center, we will need to create a campaign to generate the funds needed to cover the cost of construction. This training center will help expand our reach and improve the success of our outreach.

  1. Complete the Indian River Golf Training Center serving as a “home for youth golf.”

Once the capital campaign is complete and we have the funding to create the Indian River Golf Training Center, we will be able to use this as our headquarters for all current and future youth golf training.
