Player’s Advantage Skills Youth Golf Championship
John’s Island Club is the official host of the Annual Player’s Advantage Golf Skills Championship (Short Game Skills & Full-Swing Skills) to take place on a Friday & Saturday in late August or early September on the Short Game practice area and Driving Range at the John’s Island Club (West Course). The IRGF Player’s Club hosts monthly Evaluations and Qualifiers in the Player’s Advantage Skills Program.
The golf skills program has been designed to place emphasis on practice with purpose. Adding an element of competition to practice enhances player development.
Winners of the Boys Divisions will receive the Sal Spallone Award. Winners of the Girls Divisions will receive the Jackie Stoelting Award. Age group divisions will be Elementary – Middle School – High School.
Sal Spallone is a graduate of St. Edwards School competing in FHSAA State Golf Championships……..Texas Christian University (All American)……and reached the level of Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour experience. He now resides in Vero Beach serving as Director of Instruction at Bent Pine Golf Club. He is a contributor of his time and talents for the Indian River Golf Foundation.
Jackie Stoelting is a graduate of Vero Beach High School competing in FHSAA State Golf Championships……Florida Southern College – Lakeland, FL (2nd Team All American)……played 4 years on the Symetra Tour and now a full member of the LPGA Tour. She is a contributor of her time and talents for the Indian River Golf Foundation.
Player’s Advantage Golf Skills Checkpoints are offered on a monthly basis for the purpose of self-evaluations. Checkpoints also include instruction and golf tips as part of the After School TRADITIONAL Golf and IRGF summer programs……weekdays and Saturday afternoon tournaments.
Player’s Advantage Golf Skills Qualifying – Players may attempt to qualify as many times as they desire……to improve their chances for a top qualifying position in their age group / skill level…….with the qualifiers only advancing to the Championship round. Notify officials of your intentions to participate in a qualifying session, acquire a qualifying scorecard and begin the session at 7 Short Game Skills stations and 4 Full-Swing Skills stations

Skills Training & Checkpoints begin with After School TRADITIONAL Golf Sessions (October – May)……followed by Saturday qualifying during the TCJGT/IRGF Player’s Club TEAM SCRAMBLE Series…..and the summer program of the INDIVIDUAL Stroke Play Series.
The top boy and girl qualifiers in each age group will qualify for the Youth Golf Championship round to take place on Friday or Saturday in late August or early September at John’s Island Club (West Course). Players acquiring a designated number of points will automatically advance to the Skills Championship. The designated number of points will be determined and communicated to all players.
The is NO COST at each qualifying session……$10 for the Championship. Scholarships Available.
