The Annual Futures Pro-Am is a special event featuring area amateur golfers, local club professionals and members of the LPGA Futures Tour. The purpose of the Pro-Am is to bring awareness and support for the Indian River Golf Foundation and the IRGF Players Club.
Teams of three amateurs play with two golf professionals in an 18-hole competition. The three-player teams play 9-holes with an LPGA Futures Tour player and then the second 9 with a local club professional.
The Futures Pro-Am is the result of meetings with area PGA and LPGA Golf Professionals to bring together stakeholders in the game of golf in Indian River County including leaders of golf facilities (public and private), educational institutions (elementary school to collegiate), city and county governments, businesses and professional services groups. The support of the Press Journal in the Futures Pro-Am and other IRGF activities is very helpful.
The needs of the golf community have been identified and the resources required including the concept of the future Indian River Golf Training Center. With the right leadership along with community support, the IRGF will be in a favorable position to work towards establishing these resources and valued programs on a year-round basis. The Annual Futures Pro-Am is an opportunity to tell the IRGF story.
