Special thanks to the MacWilliam Family represented by Buzz MacWilliam for granting permission to use the name of Alex MacWilliam, Sr. by naming the winning trophy in his name honoring his outstanding service to the City of Vero Beach, Indian River County, State of Florida and the founding of Riomar Country Club…..the first golf club in Vero Beach and Indian River County. The Alex MacWilliam, Sr. Award and the Mayor’s Cup have become the symbol of community service in the past and for many years ahead. He and the MacWilliam Family are very much a part of the fabric of golf history in the City of Vero Beach and Indian River County. Through the Mayor’s Cup, professional and amateur participants will honor traditions of the game, help to build a new generation of golf leadership and demonstrate golf’s intrinsic values of discipline, integrity and sportsmanship.
