 VERO BEACH, FL – The Indian River Golf Foundation (IRGF) has been selected as the host organization for LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River, a nationwide development golf program that encourages girls ages 7 – 17 to learn to play golf, build friendships and sample competition in a supportive and positive learning environment. Girls Golf of Indian River is one of over 130 sites located around the United States.

Kirk Noonan, IRGF Board Member and Jennifer Chester, Coach of the Sebastian Drivers Golf Team serve as Co-Site Directors for LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River. LPGA-USGA Girls Golf is the largest developmental golf program in the nation exclusively for girls. It is organized and implemented through a partnership between the Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the United States Golf Association (USGA). Leadership in the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River includes Roger Van Dyke, IRGF President and PGA Professional Anthony Donadio and IRGF Program Coordinator / Vero Beach High School Varsity Girls Golf Coach. Serving on the Girls Golf Advisory Board are Jackie Barenborg, member of the LPGA Symetra Tour and LPGA Professional Kim Gardner of Indian River Club.

LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River expects to have more than 60 girls participating in the program including After School Golf Programs for elementary and middle school students in addition to high school players. Advancing players participate in activities of the IRGF Players Club meeting Saturday afternoons on a year-round basis. Activities include the TPC Program of TRAINING – PRACTICE SESSIONS – COMPETITIONS.

The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River is supported by the Indian River Golf Alliance including public and private golf facilities, PGA & LPGA golf professionals, educational institutions from elementary to collegiate, parents, teachers and administrators, student coaches, area businesses and civic organizations.

The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Indian River begins the Spring of 2013 coinciding with the schedule of the Treasure Coast Junior Golf TEAM Series and IRGF Players Club. During the Spring and early Summer, activities take place on Saturday afternoons. See the Calendar for a full schedule.
