The Indian River Golf Foundation Players Club is pleased to announce the Inaugural Junior Grapefruit Golf Classic to be held at the Vero Beach Country Club – home of the Annual Grapefruit Open Golf Tournament held each December and the Club at Pointe West . The Junior Grapefruit Golf Classic is a premier competitive and developmental golf experience serving junior golfers. The IRGF Players Club extends invitations to individuals to compete in four age groups. Spots will be available to additional players based upon availability. The 2012 Junior Grapefruit is scheduled for Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th hosted by PGA Head Golf Professional Randy Hedgecock, PGA Professional Mark Cammarene, Tournament Chairman and Roger Van Dyke, President – Indian River Golf Foundation.

Invitations to the Junior Grapefruit Golf Classic are based upon player performance in local junior golf tournaments and recognized regional, state and national golf tournaments/tours. Deadline for entry – Tuesday, September 4, 2012. In the event of oversubscription, the starting field will be determined by a player ranking system. Applications received after the deadline for entry will be based upon availability.

The more experienced players will play two days of 18 holes Individual Stroke Play (total of 36 holes) format of play. There will also be two days of 9 hole Individual Stroke Play (total of 18 holes) format. Tournament awards will be issued to the top individuals in each age group. Scores will be submitted to the Junior Golf Scoreboard.

9 hole players – Tee Times following 18 Hole players
One key ingredient of the Junior Grapefruit Golf Classic is affordability with entry fees set at $80 per player for 36 holes and $60 per player for 9 holes. Scholarships available. All entries will receive a tee gift . Awards will be presented upon completion of all play.

Notes:

  • The 15 to 15 and 17 to 18 year old Boys & Girls 18 Hole Divisions will play their SAME respective tees.
  • Overall Boys & Girls Champions will come out of the 15 to 18 year old 18 Hole Divisions.
  • Some consolidation of divisions may be necessary.
